Davis Invitational (not that many freshman get invited!), Ran 1600 and 800.
In the 1600, ran in the slowest heat, got 12th place in that heat (of 24 runners). Got a 5:47.65. She got 51st overall of 75 runners.
In the 800, finished 9th in 2nd heat (18 runners), got her PR at 2:33.89. She was in last with 200 M to go, came on strong in the last 100 Meters and passed half of the field. Very exciting to watch!!! She got 24th overall of 52 runners.
BYU Invitational (even harder to get invited to)
Ran in the slowest heat for 1600 (7 heats), got 6th of 17 runners with a PR of 5:38.79 and 103rd place overall of 142 runners. She improved her time by so much!!! so proud!
In 800, ran in the 5th slowest heat (11 heats), got 2nd place of 13 runners with a PR of 2:30.23 and 58th place overall of 141 runners. 2 PRs in one day, and inching up on state qualifying time for the 800 (2:22).
| Got to love your name on the BYU leader board!!! |
Region 7 District Championships - we are in the fastest Region in the state, in our region we will be in next year, she would have finished 3rd! Alas, here is how she actually did:
In 800 M, ran in the fastest heat, 14th spot of 14 runners. She knew she had to be 4th to go to state, or break 2:22. She ran her heart out the whole time!!! Best race of her career! Finished 8th place with a new PR of 2:26.84. She is amazing! Obviously, most freshman don't even get invited to districts and she is getting close to state qualifying time!
In 1600 M, she did well also, finished 17th overall of 47 runners with a time of 5:41.98. She did well, we had to remind her that you can't get a PR EVERY race. She is the fastest Alta runner at the 1600, and she is a freshman, so lots more time to improve!
She GETS TO GO TO STATE!!
Audrey was invited as an alternate to run the 800 in Alta's Medley team at state. So, Audrey ran in the preliminaries at state for the Medley (back to BYU). She did well, but her team was disqualified because one baton pass was before zone. Sad ending, but exciting to see her run so many events.
Her track team coaches gave her 2 awards - best long distance new comer and another one. Good Freshman season!
Now soccer, the girls were having 2+ games a week at the end of the season, and going strong. Kate's team improved so much! It was so fun to watch them. They lost 3 games they shouldn't have early, and that prevented them from moving up, but they finished strong in D1 and should be able to move up after the fall. Their coach, Whitney, is retiring. We are so sad! We love our new coach Bryce. Excited for the next year.
Audrey's team went through a rough patch mid season with tons of injuries. They finished strong, and got 3rd place in their division, just missing a chance to move up to Division 1. Coach Luis is a great coach, but it was a little rocky at times. The girls seem to all want to come back, though, and we are excited.

I am now the scout committee chairman, and I had my first Court of Honor. 19 boys got recognitions and tons of advancements and merit badges. I love this new job, it is so fun!
Carson received his Star advancement, and 5 merit badges. He is doing so well. Hopefully he will do his Eagle project this summer. He has all of his merit badges except camping and swimming, and will finish those this summer. His Life will be awarded in June and he will be Eagle eligible at Christmas time. So AWESOME.
